The End of The Beginning, instalation shot, i-cabin, 2008

The End of the Beginning comprises twelve pairs of typewritten poems and linocut prints. Six of the prints were made in response to their accompanying poems, and six of the poems were made in response to their accompanying prints. The order in which each pair was made is withheld, so questioning a preconceived contingency of narrative and illustration. The work also acts as something of a metaphor for the artists’ collaborative practice. Duncan McAfee wrote all the poems and all the linocut prints were made by Andrew Miller. The roles of authorship and complicity within the creative partnership are obscured by a unity of presentation.

The prints and poems will soon be compiled into a publication for sale, The End of The Beginning. The original suite of prints and poems are in an edition of 3.
