1 Corinthians 3, performance still, Liverpool Biennial, 2002

1 Corinthians 3 is a choral performance in which a number of choristers from a choir local to the venue sing different English translations of the title’s Bible passage. This has been performed in London (above) and in Liverpool for the 2002 Biennial. Verses are sung simultaneously, creating a babble of choral noise with occasional moments of clarity where the translations concur on a particular word or phrase. Sung in unison, the piece culminates in a rousing harmony, each translator seeming to agree on the words of the last verse.
